LandformsThis region is made mainly up of large plateaus. The Okanagan Valley grows many different fruits due to the rich soil and climate. This rugged landscape has created many challenges with building transportation through the mountains. Dynamite was used to blast through mountains.
ClimateDue to the vast amount of water located around the region, the climate is moderate. The Pacific Ocean blows warm air on land in the winter and cool air over the land in the summer. Farther north, winters are long and cold due to the latitude.

Major Bodies of WaterNot only is the Cordillera located right beside the ocean, but it also has many rivers and lakes which run through it. The ocean not only provides food and tourism, but also allows for transportation of natural resources and goods around the world. The rivers in this region, like others, are used to create hydroelectricity.

In the late 1800s gold was discovered within many creek bed which brought on the gold rush. Today minerals such as gold, copper, silver, lead, and zinc are found in many parts of the region.
